The checkered pockets of colorful pink and warm beige in soft cotton handloom adorn our Amer Sujani Throw. Hand-woven in 100% cotton using the traditional Sujani weaving technique, which only a handful of artisans still practice in the whole world, the Amer throw is designed to add warmth and traditional artistry to any space. Generously sized to serve as a single coverlet, each piece is finished with neat edging on all sides and adorned with four large handmade tassels at each corner, signatures of our Mosaic collection.
Divya Sharma, founder and creative director of Heirloom Nation works with craftspeople from across India to preserve specific heritage crafts and techniques. These blankets are created using the very rare, traditional weaving technique, Sujana, from Bharuch Gujarat. Although textiles made via this technique may appear "quilted" (=material is joined together using rows of stitches), in Sujani, two layers of cloth are actually interlocked on a handloom and stuffed with cotton simultaneously without using a needle or stitch.
