Skills are best passed from hand to hand, an experienced instructor patiently guiding the beginner to find the rhythm of a craft. While we seek to offer an intimate and personal environment in our TATTER classes, there really is no substitute for the one-on-one attention that has turned from default to luxury in an era where so few are able to do those arts which were once the substance of daily life.
In beginner hand sewing, a TATTER staff teacher will sit down with you and up to two people of your choosing, either at the TATTER library or in your home, and teach you the basics of embroidery. You will set the pace and are encouraged to bring examples of projects you would like to begin working on during the lesson. Your teacher will instruct you in best practices and encourage your creativity.

Private workshop for up to 1-3 people at TATTER or in your home

TATTER is a cultural arts organization that explores textiles to tell human stories & cultivate understanding. We are an organization on a mission to advance under-represented artists, promote learning, engage social questions, preserve heritage, and encourage joy.
We strive to celebrate, amplify, and preserve textile culture in the US and around the globe, resulting in a diverse and inclusive community of participants who learn from one another through their shared love of cloth.
